Giving Back & Helping Out

October is breast cancer awareness month. There are literally a million ways to participate and pitch in. The easiest being a simple donation. A few bucks mutliplied by everyone is a lot more than a few bucks. I know the economy sucks and we all want iPad’s but please try and scrape around in the change jar and head over to komen.org to donate. See the tasteful image below .

My other favorite charity is kiva.org/. My favorite part about this charity is that you have people who want to work hard and a network of people who can help them do it. My first loan was $25. It has already been paid back and i loaned it to someone else. Every time i have extra cash i make another $25 loan. This is pocket change i would have wasted on candy. Now its being used to build lives and love all across the world.

Crestron Big GUI Contest – The Results Are In!

I got an email from Crestron today about the iPad GUI contest results. I didn’t win . There are a bunch of nice GUI’s but one of my favorites is from Liquid Pixel Group. This is the link to the screenshot on Crestrons website. I love the conference table graphic. 3 of the winners are custom jobs and 1 of them is a reworked old guifx template called adaptation.

This is the link to the Crestron iPad GUI Gallery. It contains the contest winners and the other entries. Some of the screenshots here were not part of the contest but i really dont know which ones are which now . I think rows 2 thru 6 were already part of the iPad gallery and row 1 and the remaining rows are the contest entries. You will find everything from full guifx templates to completely custom templates and everything in between. I have been wanting to post my screenshots for weeks now but i decided to wait until the contest was over. Here they are.

GUI News – NTDesigns Free Icons!

NTDesigns just added an awesome projector icon set. I knew exactly how i was going to use it before i downloaded it. I thought i would have to edit it and create an ON and OFF state. But to my surprise i found a bunch of different colors waiting on me .

We always give clients floorplan views for status feedback and control. The screenshot here shows the top with a grayed out PJ showing that its off. The bottom shows it lit green for on. This lets someone in the master bedroom know if everyone is in bed or if the kids are still watching movies in the theater. The projector icons are going to work perfectly.

GUI News – Streamline Graphics Kit is Available

The GUIJABOARD Streamline Graphics Kit is available. It contains all of the graphics exported as transparent PNG’s in organized folders. These graphics can be used with any control system GUI design software. The layered fireworks file is also included. With Adobe Fireworks you can edit any graphic. You can change the colors or add effects. Need a different color background? Want wood or metal buttons? Simply open the layered Fireworks file and change whatever you wish.
